The First Mooncake Milestone

first mooncake milestone

In Singapore, the country where I live, Mid-Autumn Festival is a significant festival. People would be gifting their loved ones with mooncakes to celebrate the occassion.

At the same time, businesses would be gifting their clients with mooncakes to express their gratitude and appreciation of their business relationship.

When I was still working in corporate jobs, I would be so happy to receive mooncakes from my boss because mooncakes are so expensive, and they’re so delicious.

After leaving my job in Aug 2021 to blog full-time, I bought my own mooncakes in 2021 and 2022, with a heavy heart.

To my surprise, about a week before the actual Mid-Autumn Festival in 2022, a brand that I’m an affiliate of emailed me asking for my address, as they’ll be sending me a mooncake in the next few days.

Flabbergasted, I sent my address and waited patiently for the delivery.

The mooncake finally arrived on the actual day of Mid Autumn Festival! And I was OVER THE MOON! (pun not intended).

There were four different flavors, and they come in a luxurious box. Each mooncake is embellished with the logo of the brand, giving it a limited-edition vibe.

I had never ever expected that a brand would go out of their way to send me a mooncake.

Furthermore, I work with this brand on my second site, not my main travel blog. And I’m blogging under a pen name, so I’m basically invisible. None of my readers know my real name and/or my real face.

I had almost given up on my second blog because of imposter syndrome. Despite getting over 5,000 sessions a month, I didn’t believe I offer any useful information for my readers.

To receive such gesture from a brand truly motivates me to work harder on my second blog.

It also cemented the fact that the second blog of mine is something worth pursuing. It’s something I should not give up. Brand didn’t give up on me, why did I even think about giving up?

I’m still receiving consistent streams of motivating comments from readers on my second blog. People still trust me.

On another note, receiving my first mooncake as a business owner made me feel like I’m finally a legit girl boss!

This is a milestone worth celebrating, hence I’m dedicating a post about it here.

Key Takeaways:

Celebrate important milestones, no matter how small it is. Earned your first $10? Got your first 100 views a day on your blog? Celebrate it, write about how you feel and what it means to you (probably on a journal, not social media).

Your reflection will serve as a useful motivation on days when you feel like giving up.
